The Last Revel

The Last Revel at Songbirds - TN

When a banjo, fiddle and guitar are sharing a song, it’s easy to spend the whole thing listening to the instruments. With The Last Revel, give the voices a turn too. The trio’s harmonies are a reason to hear them in a room, especially if you like to follow one part until it meets another. The Last Revel comes to Songbirds in Chattanooga on Saturday, February 13, 2027, at 8:00 p.m.

One nice thing about a trio is that you can pay attention to individual choices without losing track of the song. Follow the fiddle for a while and notice where the banjo answers it. Then come back to the voices and hear how an arrangement can give the words a different weight. The Minneapolis group has an Americana sound that leaves space for that kind of close listening.

Take a friend who likes indie folk for the melodies and someone who likes Americana for the playing. Lee Henke, Ryan Acker and Vinnie Donatelle give both of them something to listen for. See if you can each point to a different moment that made the three voices sound like they belonged together.
